Garou

It’s too early for making summaries yet, but there’s certainly something to tell about.
The most famous and beloved by audience from all over the world songs will be performed and for sure it will be full of surprises. This is Garou!
Garou is probably one of the brightest, charming and charismatic singers of the francophone world of two last decades. It is banal, but you won’t miss his voice with any other.
At the end of 90s he literally rushed into the world of music, breaking all canons. Gruff and sexy voice, macho image and romantic make hearts of young and not so young ladies beat faster.
He was lucky. He appeared in the right place at the right time. And he instantly vaulted to the top. The meeting between the beginning musician and Luc Plamondon (author of “Notre Dame de Paris” musical, famous poet and producer) in a bar of Montreal defined the future of the young guy with a guitar. In the casting of “Notre Dame de Paris”, the composer Riccardo Cocciante and Luc Plamondon chose him for Quasimodo’s role. This role brought him worldwide fame.
Later Lady Luck and of course the talent and charm of the young musician led him to Celine Dion and Rene Angelil, who offered him a cooperation.
His first album “Seul” (“Lonely”) was released in 2000. 2,5 million copies were sold in 11 weeks! In France!
The country which is difficult to surprise with something… Career explosion!
Subsequently many albums were released, and many songs became real hits. “Seul”, “Gitan”, etc. The young singer recorded the song “Sous le vent” with Celine Dion. Their cooperation lasted few years, but Garou couldn’t stand any limitations. He is a free Loup-Garou (Werewolf), that’s how they called him at school.
He chose his own independent way.
His CD “Rhythm and blues” became gold certified one week after its release. Talented authors – Jean-Jacques Goldman, Pascal Obispo, Gérald de Palmas participated in the CD “Au milieu de ma vie”. Such a luck again.
Garou masterly plays several instruments. He plays grand piano, harpsichord, guitar and even trumpet.
He got such awards like “World Music Awards”, “Le Félix – Révélation au Québec”, etc.
Garou is interested in everything. He is hazardous at heart. He participates in different programs, such as the show “Gentlemen forever” together with other famous artists, records duets, plays in movies, (“L’amour. Aller-Retour”, main role). He also participated in the World famous “Cirque du Soleil”, where he played magician Zark in Zarkana show in New York.
The voice, appearance and uniqueness of the Artist attracts not only the audience, but also elite companies. He becomes a face of “Hublot” Swiss watches, then “Mauboussin” jeweler, releases men’s cologne, he tries himself in everything.
He continues to compose songs and his own life, changing genres and passions.
For sure the television couldn’t ignore Garou.
He is invited in one of the most popular shows “The Voice” as a coach in France and this year in Canada too. He recently presented a new TV show “Destination Eurovision 2018” and his own one: “Gare à Garou”.
But it isn’t enough for him. The interests are different. This year he celebrates three dates: 20 years of “Notre Dame de Paris”, 20 years of professional career and a more modest date – 2 years of Manko restaurant in Paris on avenue Montaigne, near the Champs-Elysées. All “cream” of the show business from different countries, famous chefs, directors, actors gathered in a place which became significant.
It’s not just a friendly cocktail there, Garou created a Cabaret program which pleases Parisians and tourists from every corner of the world for already 2 years.
Garou is full of new musical and other projects.
20 years on the stage – France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, USA, England, Tahiti, Lebanon, Armenia, Romania, Poland, Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, etc. – the incomplete list of the countries, where the audience estimated and fell in love with the Canadian guy from Quebec, Sherbrook town, who became a singer with a World name.
And further – “faster, higher, stronger” according to Coubertin… Not without a reason Garou took part in the Opening Ceremony of The Olympic Games in Vancouver performing his song “Un peu plus haut, un peu plus loin”.

In music…
