Johnny Hallyday

With more than 100 million sold albums, Johnny Hallyday is one of the most French variety popular singers. His charisma on stage, his inimitable voice and his American-style shows make him an outstanding artist. He received throughout his career 40 Golden records, 22 Platinum ones and 3 Diamond records.
The so-called « Teenagers’ idol » was born in 1943. In the « Yéyé » wave, he launched Rock & Roll in France and became rapidly a pure rock star with thousands of fans, a notorious private life and regular changes in his look. He is also the first French singer succeeding in filling stadiums for huge shows (for example in Las Vegas).
Influenced by Elvis Presley and the rock music of the 50s, Johnny Hallyday quickly knows success in the 60s with legendary songs as « Laisse les Filles » and « Let’s Twist Again ». His 1st album, « Hello Johnny », was released in 1960. From this time, we also remember the famous “What I love you,” “Black is black” and “All the music I love.
In the 80s, Johnny Hallyday slides more frankly to variety. He works with the most famous songwriters (Michel Berger and Jean-Jacques Goldman in particular). “Laura,” “Quelque chose de Tennessee” and “L’Envie” are the masterpieces of that time.
In the 90s and 2000, Johnny Hallyday continues with songs like “Allumer le feu” (composed by Pascal Obispo) or “Sang pour sang” (by his son David Hallyday). By the end of 2009, a couple of months before his supposed Farewell concert, Tour 66, he is hospitalized in emergency in Los Angeles.
He comes back on stage one year later, during several concerts of Mathieu Chedid.
In 2012, during his world tour and for the 1st time ever, he sings for a Russian audience, at the Kremlin Palace, one the most prestigious halls in Moscow.
“I will be glad to come back to Moscow. End even elsewhere in Russia. I really like the country”, Johnny said to the FPA.
